Sleepy Heads 04:13
You should know your technical ability, your technical ability is secondary to the inside going outside for fresh air, no ceiling, I was feeling that song fit me like skin, you should know You should know my brain isn’t wasted You should know my love isn’t stupid You should know that Life shouldn’t be as hard as it is sometimes and I shouldn’t be as hard on myself sometimes and you get me in a corner there’s no way I’m getting out anytime soon, soon. You should count the hours by the hour, put them up in frames with names under numbers. Set alarms so you’re up early. The morning doesn’t wait for the sleepy heads. You should know that no one’s even thinking about the way you’re thinking when you’re sinking, holding it up high try to show them, you’re still shining like the sun’s angry fire Life shouldn’t be as hard as it is sometimes and I shouldn’t be so hard on myself sometimes And you get me in a corner there’s no way I’m getting out anytime soon, Soon. Sing it out of my chest. The sky won’t jump out of bed this time of year. I can’t get to the bottom of it, but I get a good way down, I get a good way down. Life shouldn’t be as hard as it is sometimes and I shouldn’t be as hard on you. Let’s try, try to go easy on each other, ‘Cause life shouldn’t be as hard as it is sometimes, and I shouldn’t be so hard on myself sometimes, and you get me in a corner, there’s no way I’m getting out any time soon, Soon, Soon, Soon.

about

Bristol based bedroom pop duo Mumble Tide announce themselves to the world with the release of the outright infectious, debut single Sleepy Heads. Kinda country, kinda synthy, kinda moody, kinda fun the band’s self produced debut draws inspiration from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy and Lucy Dacus.

“This song just sort of fell together.” Gina tells us. “Ryan came up with a cool riff and I blurted out a load of lyrics. It made us feel better and we hope it makes you feel better too. People might give you a hard time for being a sleepy head. We reckon you're doing ok though.”

Also out today on the digital release is their cover of Bruce Springsteen’s I’m On Fire.

“We were listening to a lot of Bruce while painting our room. This song is just too cool, the way it moves along, it's like it's over before you know it so you have to listen to it over and over. It took 4 coats of paint to cover the blue so we listened to it a lot. They don't call him the Boss for no reason.”

The single will also be released on a limited edition tape featuring an exclusive two extra tracks. Sleepy Heads is the first in a new series of tapes released from London based label Nothing Fancy that is also home to The Golden Dregs, Some Bodies and Michael Clark.
